Oracle Fusion CRM - Looks very promising

Just attended Fusion CRM product highlights & roadmap for Partners. It is quite amazing on what all Oracle had included in this. There are lot of scope for new things to learn and take to customer. Instead of talking about same 10 things, we have a whole new platter of things available at our disposal. There is lot of focus on UX - User Experience. This will be one strong product. They have done great job

Since this is also offered on cloud, there is a potential chance that SIs will have only fewer things to sell in this space (not much support / implementation contracts).. on the lighter side, with Fusion CRM coming in, I would say Oracle is pushing all SIs in this space into more of an Affiliates who sell the user licenses / seats and walk away.

On premise, we can see more involvement from SIs. Still these are initial days, lot of SIs will have to depend on prior CRM and Oracle knowledge. That can be a wrinkle. What should be done, build core group and COEs, attend various boot-camps and if possible, work alongside with Oracle. That will be the best investment. Oracle might come out with roadmap of upgrading from on-premise CRM solutions (any type) to Fusion CRM.

Flipside to this, is that we will have to re-tool ourselves. It might be for our own good. Mostly all Oracle marquee products will be going this way. They have put lot of thought, spent lot of time to fine this. Hence re-tooling will be most preferred way and getting ourselves ready

UX, is given highest priority. That is inline with priorities of various CxOs around the world. We have reached a stage where we have all the data with us. We can also find easy ways of gathering data. Now comes the visual part. We will have to mix-and-match, massage and make it more presentable. Thats exactly where Oracle is coming from.

Best part of Fusion CRM on Cloud, is that companies will not have to spend millions to buy / integrate / implement / upgrade .. they will have to pay and use (most of the cases i might be less than a week before the system is ready). Need to expand functionality .. customer can get Oracle to addon another module on the fly or with short turn-around. How easy will that be..

Great job Oracle for putting all the acquisitions together..

Big Data - The need of the hour

Volume, Variety and Velocity is what Big Data is all about. Of-late companies are looking at creative ways to proactively predict the data usage. They want to know what is the latest about the company. They also want to know what customers are thinking. Where are they heading.

This is becoming imperative for the customers as the competition is becoming though and the data is growing very fast. There can be volumes of information that needs to gets tracked on a daily basis. All these data needs proper reading, cleaning and understanding. Most importantly proper management and extraction.

There can be multiple sources and points of data flow - Enterprise Data, Social Media, Emails, Mobile data, Partner inputs.. there is data everywhere. Companies are surrounded with data which grows ad grows. This is a very tricky situation for a company and it is ongoing. It just keeps increasing every day. This data is all scattered all across and it needs to be tracked.

On the other hand, it also provides an interesting opportunity to customers - too much of data is happy problem, get more insights about how the company is performing, more aggressive analytics, improved ratings & performance. It all depends on how this data is peeled and sliced. There are numerous layers and types of data that needs to be addressed / looked into. The bigger challenge is that identifying these data originating points

How is it achieved?
Implementing Big Data strategy  is not a simple task and ofcourse does not come cheap. It needs involvement from CIO office and funding. It is all invest now to harvest later.

Some of the needs
  • Better strategy, architecture
  • Infrastructure that support this data volume
  • Commitment from management for investment
  • Proper data analysis software (unfortunately there is no one tools or platform that does it). It all depends upon how quickly, effectively the data available is captured and analyzed
There are software and platforms that provide cloud based solutions for managing Big Data. This helps companies bring down the CAPEX. Most of the companies use this option to test the whole Big Data strategy.

Most common roles that are part of this implementation process are Architects, Strategists, Governing people and implementers.

We at VENIT can help customers to pick right solution and teams. We can do end-to-end Big Data management. we are partnered with pioneers in Big Data Management.

Our team at VenIT visit sites manually, check their themes and PR (page Rank) and then contact their webmasters individually. This enables them to reply and follow-up with them individually so they can, at any point, ensure the quality of the links project site is provided.

On-site Optimization:
On-page optimization (on-page SEO) is what can be done on the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the on-page content. It refers to all the things that you can do on your website to help you rank higher, such as page titles, internal linking, Meta tags & descriptions, etc.
On-page optimization is one of the very first steps of SEO which every webmaster should do. It is very easy to learn and implement some of these on-page optimization techniques.
On-page optimization will not only rank well in a search engine but also can increase the overall readability of your website for your visitors.

Some On-Page Optimization techniques we include at VenIT Solutions
  • Title Optimization to let your visitors to identify you and your business.
  • Meta Tag Optimization which includes Title, Description, Keywords etc.,
  • Header Element Optimization should be used to define the most important section of your page.
  • Text Styles to be used wisely to keep focus on relevancy.
  • Keyword Optimization in such a way that it suits to both search engines & readers.
  • Link Optimization for search engines as well as to give your visitors a better navigation.
  • Image Optimization to let search engine crawlers read the required stuff.

Off-site Optimization:
Off-page optimization are strategies for search engine optimization that are done off the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the page content and help you rank higher, such as social networking, article submission, forum & blog marketing, etc. There are a number of things you can do "off your web page" to improve your search engine page rank and increase targeted visitor traffic to your web site. This is the area known as off-page optimization. Off-page factors should be carefully considered and implemented to achieve a higher search engine ranking. These factors are primarily tied to the site's linking (inbound and outbound) techniques.

Each link to your web site from another web site (i.e., back link) is considered "vote" to your site's popularity. These votes/inbound links can increase the importance of your web site from the search engine's prospective and that’s how your website starts getting ranked high & brings in more visits.

Some Off-Page Optimization techniques we include at VenIT Solutions
  • Ø  Search Engine Submission to various search engines like Google, AOL, MSN, Yahoo, AltaVista, DMOZ etc.
  • Ø  Directory Submission to improve web popularity of your website.
  • Ø  Article / Press Release Submission to improve web popularity of your website.
  • Ø  Classified / Blog Posting to improve web presence of your website.
  • Ø  Link Popularity / Link Building to improve inbound links to your website.

SEO Performance Reports:
SEO Bench marker’s Reports are the essential starting point for every new pro-active SEO initiative and every new website development project. These clearly identify the search engine performance benchmark need to aim for when undertaking a pro-active SEO initiative or developing a new website.

Reports are also a valuable SEO competitive analysis tool for advanced SEO practitioners, who can save many hours of research and do not require the step-by-step recommendations about how to improve the performance of the primary web page analysed.
Our VenIT SEO team generates Daily Work Done Reports (Which consist what tasks we have done daily). We also prepare Keyword Ranking and performance Reports which we will sent at end of every month.

SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING:
Best search engine have profiled the Internet's most popular websites and have compiled a list of elements that they believe make a site superior. For each of these elements, points are awarded. The more points your website receives the higher your website is placed. SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is a service that gives Search Engines exactly what they want. To be frank, it has taken years for Internet specialists to understand what makes search engines tick. It is assumed that top search engine positions are produced by your web designer adding keywords to your website pages! We can conclude this as search engines also looks at other factors when calculating which site is top.

Search engine marketing is a simple method to take your site higher in search engine rankings. We use different methods to popularize your site in search engines. Search engine marketing is all about attaining high rankings and we do our best to make sure that you site ranks highly and even more importantly, get a great increase in traffic!
You may have an incredible site with great design and content, but if no one knows about it then the all your great time and effort you have put into the site will have been for nothing. If you want to be ranked by the search engines for a particular keyword then you have to tell them very loud and clear that you have an incredible website and you are doing really well. The search engine marketing campaign that we implement for your site contains all the elements that will help in optimizing your site in search engines.

Our team at VenIT Solutions knows how to find out what needs to be done to optimize your site on the web. If you feel, doesn't my web designer know these things? We have a small clarification. SEM and Web Designer can understand each other’s roles but couldn't really do them. Good web designers understand only few elements, but are unlikely to understand the others and they are what make the difference. Here the work of the SEM Company is to make sure the website meets search engines criteria and guidelines. To do this VenIT will focus on using content, articles, reviews or press release etc., from your site and finding appropriate partners willing to circulate it online.

Social Media Marketing
Social Media Optimization is the next level in marketing. Where you combine this with traditional SEO you have a scenario which allows you to efficiently spread the word and generate an intense amount of interest for a relatively unknown product or service.
Social Media Marketing (SMM) also known as social influence marketing uses techniques such as customer service, social influencing, online communities, social media platforms, and publication relations. Some social media marketing tools include LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and YouTube. SMM is a collective group of web properties whose content is published by users, not directed at employees of the property. SEO and SMM are the two of the most important terms that are responsible for your business promotion in this internet age. Both of these have their own importance and significance in bringing up the website traffic.
Social Media Optimization is the be-all and end-all to Word-Of-Mouth marketing. Get in front of your peers and market sector with the innocence of a newfound friend. Then deliver the ultimate marketing punch before they see it coming. They’ll never know what hit them and why they ordered it!

People Challenges in IT Industry

Attrition is a major issue hitting many IT companies. 25%-40% attrition is becoming common. In some streams like BPO it is even higher. This means year-on-year companies have 25%-40% resources hired as backfills to existing positions. On top of this companies will have to hire for fresh demand. This in it selves becomes very complicated process to handle for HR and Recruitment.

Some of the questions that pose major challenges to companies...
Where are these new-age challenges coming from? Are companies now different from earlier? Our managers’ competency level going down than it was before? How did managers manage these people challenges in the past? Why are these modern day techniques not helping control the situation? How do we control attrition? How do we control these issues now? Do we have any early warning systems for this? If yes, why are they not functioning effectively?

There are many reasons behind Attrition. Most common ones ‘better pay package’, ‘want to work onsite’...  At times these look petty excuses. The cause might be something else. There is no early warning system to track human emotions. No matter, even if companies do various 1-on-1, SKIP meetings, counselling these won’t come up. This needs a grass root analysis. The problem may not be the same what the employees are quoting during exit interview. It can be the way they are treated. Just because they don’t want to ‘burn the bridges’, they rarely bring out these issues about Managers.

People Management – The "Dying Art"
Often we see projects failing. Reason can be bad execution, wrong strategy and bad expectations set. Many companies don't even realize that 80%-85% (or more) projects fail because of bad managers who don’t know how to manage teams well. These managers don't even pay attention to the people working under them and start applying more pressure. Attrition is one of the key issues why projects fail. We can hire new talent from the market but having them trained and brought up to speed is another challenge. It is 2-4 (or more in niche skills) months process. In most of the cases these newbie create teaming issues as well. That opens new can of worms. All these can be controlled / managed by proper 'People Management'. People Management is becoming a dying art. Understanding ones team and playing to their strength is always the strongest trait for any successful manager. Understanding the weakness and helping the team get trained takes care of the 80%-90% challenges.

Software / ERP Confusion

Many a times, it looks like companies are investing more and more money into buying ERPs and other software to ease out operations pain. On the contrary, managing IT Systems especially ERP becomes a nightmare in itself and eventually companies end spending more money for installation, implementation (re-implementation in some cases), maintenance and upgrades. Above all, time it takes to take care of all these.

"Milking" the customer -
Consulting companies look at these confused customers as potential $$$ buckets from which they can start sipping and slurping. Various consulting and advising firms even tie up with product owners. They create situations to customers to confuse them even further. Adding to the confusion, product companies constantly keep releasing upgrades & patches. To incorporate these changes in most cases is a nightmare as well.  These consulting companies will keep making more money. Who would want to kill a "Golden Egg laying Goose".  Gone are those days when IT budget of a company was estimated to be <3% of overall company spend. Now things have changed.  With added confusions and advice, these companies are forced to invest 5-10% or even more.

Can something be done to ease out this pain? Moving from lower version to updated / current version need not be so painful. There is no simple mechanism for the same. Customers will have to go thru the entire cycle.

All the products were created to support business. Unfortunately, managing these softwares is becoming a bigger business. Now Customers are investing more money into in it than ever. Not even sure on what the ROI is going to be. Companies are focusing more on these overheads than their core business. This is taking bigger toll on the inward revenue.

Eventho the main parameters for any project are CAPEX, OPEX and time involved, it is always proper selection of software, partner that decides the end-result.
